Fiber Art Focus:
Guild Description:
The South Jersey Guild of Spinners & Handweavers was formed in 1975 to promote fine craftsmanship and excellence in the fiber arts and to provide its members with educational opportunities in pursuit of these goals. Through guest speakers and study groups we explore the many applications of spinning, dyeing, and handweaving, including ethnic, historical and contemporary designs, basketry, and other fiber arts.
Our active membership is concentrated in Camden and Burlington Counties in Southern New Jersey, but extends south into parts of Gloucester County, east to the Jersey Shore, and west to the Philadelphia area.
The greatest benefit of belonging to a weaving or spinning guild is the tangible and substantial reward of increased creativity and productivity flowing from the regular contact with fellow artists and craftsmen.
